An Extra Care Housing Strategy for Northumberland
Northumberland Care Trust has commissioned Peter Fletcher Associates to assess the future need for extra care housing across the county.
The strategy will take account of the move from a two tier system to unitary status from April 2009 and the needs and aspirations of older people including the wish to live ordinary lives and to have more choice and control.
This work will include carrying out a survey of the accommodation system for older people including sheltered housing, residential and nursing care and intermediate and short stay care to achieve a more integrated system of housing care and support, increase the choice for older people and to make better use of some existing schemes.
Using GIS mapping we will map supply across the whole of the accommodation system for older people.
PFA will be working with a Commissioning Group to oversee the project, with representatives from the Care Trust, Planning, Strategic Housing, secondary care and Supporting People.
