We carry out a wide range of consultation and engagement work with the public and service users, either as part of a broader commission or as a specific commission.

We undertake partnership development work as part of many of our ‘whole system’ commissions to ensure that the right partnerships and structures are in place to turn strategies into action.

Local examples

• We regularly undertake consultation with black and minority ethnic people as part of our commissions, for example in Rochdale, Rotherham, Liverpool and Hounslow
• In a number of areas, sometimes alongside developing older people’s strategies, we are commissioned to develop Older People’s Forums to provide an independent voice for older people. Examples include Darlington, South Ribble and Devon. This work also involves developing effective partnership and engagement structures between older people and local partnerships
